A Review on Goal-oriented Activities of the Old Who Use Senior Citizens´ Centers

Abstract

|
This study was conducted to find out for what goals the old used senior citizens´ centers with the focus on typical characteristics of urban and rural areas.
58 respondents were chosen through the matched sampling technique by age , education, spouse and religion, and 58 questionnaires were statistically analyzed by means of SPSS.
The most influential variable on social activities(eg. keeping friends, gathering information, etc) was `number of games´ in both urban and rural areas.
On the other hand, the most influential variables on non-social activities(eg. making money) or individual-oriented activities(eg. enjoying games) were ‘age’ and ‘number of games or picnics’ respectively in urban and rural areas.
These results show us that goal-oriented activities in rural areas are far more limited than in urban areas and more various games for them need to be well organized by group unit.
